On June 15, Alexander Moor, interim Governor of the Tyumen region, visited one of the leading medical institutions of the region: the Federal Centre of Neurosurgery (FCN). Together with deputies of the Tyumen Regional Duma and Albert Sufianov, Chief Physician of the clinic, he visited the children's ward and its young patients, talked with their mothers, appreciated a hybrid operating room, a radiation therapy ward and a training simulation laboratory, where both active and future surgeons hone their skills. He met the FCN staff.
Albert Sufianov, Chief Physician of FCN, noted that that year the Centre was going to be 7 years old. “We did a great job, performed dozens of unique surgeries, developed and implemented proprietary technologies and became the leaders in the neurosurgery field. All it's all thanks to true professionals working in our team as well as to significant support from the government of the region. Our most important achievement is dozens of thousands of lives saved by us. Over this short period of time we reached a record number of successful surgeries. Most importantly, we learned not only to save the lives of our patients, but, thanks to modern equipment and our team, even preserve the quality of their lives after the most complicated neurosurgical interventions”, he said.
During its existence, almost 23 thousand of high-tech neurosurgeries were performed in the Centre for residents of 81 Russian regions and 13 CIS and other foreign countries. Of these, more than 12 thousand surgeries were performed for the residents of the Tyumen region. Doctors of the Centre perform about 3,500 thousand of surgeries each year, with 800 of them performed by Albert Sufianov, Chief Physician of FCN.
Five specialized wards are active in the institution: pediatric neurosurgery, cerebrovascular neurosurgery, vertebrology, neuro-oncology and functional neurosurgery as well as anesthesiology and intensive care ward, together with seven operating rooms. The seventh operating room was opened in 2015. This is the only intellectual hybrid operating room with computer tomography in Russia; it allows to significantly increase efficiency of surgical treatment of most difficult diseases. Today, by its equipment, the Centre is on par with leading hospitals in the world. Federal Centre of Neurosurgery became the neurosurgeon talent pool for many Russian regions.
Remote counselling service was established at the Centre's website, increasing the availability of high-tech medical services for the patients. It means it is now possible for a person to discuss the matters of surgical treatment with the Centre's neurosurgeons without leaving his or her region.
FCN is famous for its minimally invasive surgery and preservation of quality of life of its patients through the application of the most modern methods and technologies of surgical treatment.
Today, by a number of medical indicators, there are no rivals for the Centre in entire Russia with many kinds of surgeries being performed exclusively by neurosurgeons of FCN. The Centre employs advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities. FCN mostly performs surgeries at the expense of federal funds, obligatory medical insurance funds and, for foreign citizens, on a paid basis.
