The delegation of the Tyumen Region participated in the International tourism exhibition “Sаjam Turizma”, which took place on February 21–24 in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. The representatives of Serbia, Greece, Spain, Switzerland and Bulgaria expressed their intention to cooperate with the region in the tourism sector.
The Tyumen representatives told foreign tour operators about Siberia and shown thematic videos, presented the official tourism brand of the Tyumen Region “Visit Tyumen” and invited potential partners to personally visit the Siberian region and to assess its tourism potential.
Following such a trip, bilateral relations with foreign tour operators will be developed more meaningfully, as the Agency for Tourism and Promotion of the Tyumen Region believes. The citizens of Tyumen are glad to show their guests two Siberian cities – Tyumen and Tobolsk. Tyumen was the first Russian town in Siberia. Today it is one of the most comfortable and flourishing cities of Russia. Tobolsk is a historical administrative center of Siberia, which once even had its own currency and was considered the third capital of Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Tourists can be impressed by hunting on horseback, comfortable recreation centres with thermal springs and SPA-complexes, astonishing architectural ensembles, such as Abalak and the Tobol Kremlin.
The Belgrade Forum also hosted the Days of Russian Spiritual Culture, in which traditional Siberian crafts were widely represented. The exhibition of artistic crafts was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture or “the Russian House” in Belgrade. The visitors had a chance to get acquainted with the masterpieces created by the artists of the Tobolsk bone-cutting factory and the Siberian carpet factory located in Ishim.
The topic of the national tourism project “The Imperial Route”, implemented under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation together with the Foundation for the Revival of the Traditions of Mercy and Charity “Elisaveta and Sergiy Educational Society”, turned out to be familiar and interesting for Serbs. The Tyumen Region is a coordinator of this project, and Serbian tour operators intend to consider possibilities to cooperate along this line.
Olga Yarilova, the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, who visited Siberia and is familiar with its traditions, noted well-coordinated work of the Tyumen delegation at the exhibition. According to her, such regions as the Tyumen Region can show foreigners a different Russia, not the one that they are used to seeing in Moscow or St. Petersburg.
The Governor of the Tyumen Region, Alexander Moor noted high performance of the region in the tourism development. “The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation published data on the development of tourism in the country. The last year was very eventful with new tourism projects launched; as a result, the Tyumen Region ranked among top-ten regions with high development rates in tourism. The performance of our region increased significantly, the region moved from position 31 to 7. It is a high rank, but we are not planning to stop at that. In 2019, the Tyumen Region will continue its active work on the development of tourism, implementation of new investment projects in this sector, attracting Russian and foreign tourists. It is crucial, that the infrastructure of the Tyumen Region is ready for the growth of a tourist flow: transport network is being improved, new hotels and restaurants are being opened, the new regional brand ‘Visit Tyumen’ is developing”, summarized the Governor.
In the tourism sector, the Tyumen Region focuses on exporting its own services, and the region has much to demonstrate. New interesting tourist routes are being actively developed in the last few years. Referring to foreign tourists, it is worth mentioning that citizens and tour operators of Serbia are friendly towards Russia and show interest in our culture, which means there is a solid basis for establishing bilateral relations.
We would add that the representatives from 55 countries in total and about 77 thousand participants gathered at the Belgrade exhibition “Sajam Turizma”. The exhibition ended on February 24.
