The development of cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic offers opportunities for export expansion to China, believes the Governor Alexander Moor.
"Kyrgyzstan borders China, there are convenient checkpoints and road links between the two countries; we can use these opportunities to supply Russian products, including those of the Tyumen region, to the Chinese market. This is a highly promising area, which still needs more consideration and development", commented the Head of the region.
On March 28 the Tyumen delegation headed by the Governor participated in the 8th Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference "New Horizons of Strategic Partnership and Integration". As a result of the meeting, the government of the Tyumen region and the government of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and humanitarian cooperation.
"Presently we export various products with the total annual export amount of almost ten million dollars to the country. At the same time the region does not import any goods from Kyrgyzstan", stressed Alexander Moor.
According to the Ural Customs Administration, for 12 months of 2018 (compared to the same period in 2017), the share of exports to the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic increased by 116 thousand US dollars. The main groups of products in the export structure are: bakery and farinaceous confectionery, medicines, wood, plastics and products, made of them.
In January 2019 during the visit of the Kyrgyz delegation to the Tyumen region meetings with regional enterprises on the supply of poultry meat were held. Today Zavodoukovsk Butter Plant, Tyumen Plywood Plant, KTS-Servis Company are exporting their products to Kyrgyzstan. The expansion of cooperation is also expected in the field of development of medical tourism for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of Kyrgyz adults and children in the Tyumen regional medical centres.
In 2018, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, France, Germany, as well as Latvia and Belarus traditionally lead the list of the main countries purchasing Tyumen products. On the whole, by the end of 2018, export amount in the Tyumen region has grown by almost 820 million US dollars. In 2018, according to updated data, export volume amounted to 3 billion 759 million US dollars, which is 1.3 times more compared with the results of 2017. At the same time non-oil non-energy export exceeded 1 billion US dollars and amounted to 1 billion 225 million US dollars.
