Introduction of modern technologies, reduction of production costs, and digitisation are the main challenges that the Russian oil and gas industry faces today.
Alexander Moor, the Governor of the Tyumen region, expressed such opinion during the press conference dedicated to the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum, which was held at TASS in Moscow.
“The Tyumen region with northern autonomous areas is the core of the Western Siberia’s fuel and energy complex. In the second half of the 20th century industrial development of the northern territories was carried out via the Tyumen region. While Yamal is the gas centre of Russia, and Yugra is the major oil extraction area, the Tyumen region has always been and remains the hub for scientific centres and enterprises focused on the production for oil and gas industry. We use that advantage to develop the region’s economy,” says Alexander Moor.
Currently, the region hosts R&D departments of practically all the major oil and gas companies, including Rosneft, Gazprom, Surgutneftegas, LUKOIL, Novatek and Sibur. Major international companies (such as Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, and Bentec) long ago launched their production facilities and founded training and educational centres in Tyumen.
Due to its promising status, the region very likely will further develop as a scientific, educational, industrial, and service centre of the Western Siberia’s fuel and energy complex, stresses the Governor. That was the reason to establish the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum nine years ago.
“The list of topics discussed at the Forum has been expanding, depending on challenges that companies and oil and gas industry face each year. The main challenge today is the need to introduce modern technologies and reduce production costs,” notes Alexander Moor.
Alexey Kozlov, Managing Director of Sibur, also took part in the press conference.
“Sibur’s participation in the Forum is purely pragmatic. We have the opportunity to meet colleagues, discuss issues and exchange experience. This year the key topic of the plenary session will be digitisation of the oil and gas industry. Sibur has taken big steps in this field, so we have much to discuss and much to share. We really want to get feedback,” says Alexey Kozlov, stressing that Sibur company is completing its major investment project in the Tyumen region, that is, ZapSibNeftekhim polypropylene unit.
The 10th Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum will be held in Tyumen on September 17-19. It is the main Russian oil and gas forum, which will gather more than 2,000 Russian and foreign experts, representatives of federal ministries and authorities, and top managers of leading companies. The Forum will feature an exhibition of innovative technologies and developments in the field of fuel and energy.
