On November 27, Governor Alexander Moor visited the Schlumberger Siberian Training Center, the first international service company which carries out the high-tech geophysical research in Western Siberia.
The head of the region congratulated the company’s staff on two significant events — the 90th anniversary of the first field works in Russia and the 15th anniversary of cooperation between Schlumberger and the Government of the Tyumen Region.
The governor recalled that in March 2004, the strategic cooperation agreement between the Government of the Tyumen Region and the company was signed, and in 2006, the first electric submersible pumps and perforating equipment plants were commissioned in the Tyumen Region under the brand of Schlumberger. In 2008, the only and unique Siberian Training Center in Russia was launched and became a landmark of both the region and the company.
“I would like to thank Schlumberger for the confidence in the Tyumen Region which is proved by the major projects implemented by the company. The success stories give more information about the region. The success story of Schlumberger in the Tyumen Region is very important for all investors, especially for foreign ones. Our cooperation and the projects implemented definitely prove that it is possible to do business in the Tyumen Region, to build up production facilities. And the regional government can be considered a credible partner, which builds up reliable and long-terms relations”, said Alexander Moor and expressed his hope for further strengthening of the strategic partnership with the company and implementation of new projects.
Today more than 1,500 specialists work at the Schlumberger enterprises established in Tyumen. The new product lines are being developed and put into operation at the Tyumen pilot plant for geophysical instrument-making. The company invests in the university education, organizes lectures by specialists in the Tyumen universities, buys equipment for laboratories and departments, and is involved in the on-the-job training of students.
Schlumberger President for Russia and Central Asia Gokhan Saygi mentioned in his welcome speech that after 15 years they could confidently say that the cooperation was successful, as evidenced by the implemented projects.
“Over these years, we've invested about 150 million US dollars. The excellent infrastructure and ecosystem created in the region for business development has become the formula for success. We operate in the region as we find everything we need to develop our business. By joint work, we’ve been able to implement all our plans,” said Mr. Gokhan Saygi.
Governor Alexander Moor and Schlumberger President for Russia and Central Asia Gokhan Saygi explored the samples of the equipment, which had been localized by the company in Russia and visited the Siberian Training Center, which provides training and professional development for technical staff of the companies operating in the Russian oil and gas sector. The Center also provides summer internships for students majoring in “Geophysics” and “Oil and Gas Well Drilling” from six Russian universities, including the Tyumen Industrial University. The course curriculum includes both academic and practical training at the training sites.
