Leonid Ostroumov, Director of the regional Department for Investment Policy and State Support of Entrepreneurship, reviewed the export performance of the companies in the Tyumen Region at the press conference held on the 11th of December in the Tyumen technology park.
“The foreign trade turnover is generally stable. We will have the complete data for 2019 in the beginning of 2020, but we can already see a minor increase in the volumes for the last 6 months. The volume of exports of Tyumen companies’ goods has amounted to $1.27 billion, which is $200 million more than in the same period of 2018. The data show that the exporters that began their commercial activities last year continue operating and are ramping up sales of their products. That is why, the forecasts are positive,” Mr. Ostroumov noted.
In comparison with 2018, the local manufacturers increased their sales to Kazakhstan, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, UAE, Germany, Denmark, Algeria, Egypt, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Spain, Poland and the USA. Notably, sales to Germany have shown almost a threefold increase, while sales to UAE have grown 5.5-fold.
This year’s exports to Abkhazia, Andorra, Angola, Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, Congo, Algeria, Croatia and other countries have also ramped up.
Fuel and energy goods and chemical industry products continue to account for the largest volumes of export. The non-resource non-energy segment has shown an increase in the following categories: metals and metal products (from $3.5 million to $4 million), machinery, equipment and other vehicles (from $11.3 million to $37.0 million), foodstuffs and agricultural supplies (from $8.7 million to $10.8 million). The volume of exports has also increased for the following categories of goods: “Textile, textile products and footwear”, “Rawhide, furs and related products” and “Other goods”.
According to the data provided by the Regional Export Center, the number of offsite events in 2019 has tripled. Small and medium business owners interested in promoting their products on the international market took part in 9 international fairs and 7 business missions. In addition, 7 reverse business missions were organized in order to further develop the region’s potential. The importers from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China have also visited the Tyumen region for the first time.
