Yalutorovsk is a city in Russia, in the south of the Tyumen region, on the left bank of the Tobol river. It was founded in 1659 as Yalutorovskaya Sloboda. The population amounts to 39 399 persons. Total area of urban land is 5 191 ha.

Founded in 1659 as a jail fortress on the site of a Tatar settlement Yavlu-Tour, Yalutorovsk received the status of a district town of Tobolsk governorship in 1782. In the future, the city became a centre for the development of a large agricultural region in the south of Western Siberia. The economic development of the city is greatly influenced by the proximity to the Northern districts, with their high need for the brought-in resources for productive activities and livelihood.

The climate is temperate continental, favorable for life activity of people, their rest and recovery. The average annual temperature that in 1996 was +0.6°C, in 2000 — +2,3°C; in 2006 — +1,6°C, tends to increase.

The surroundings of Yalutorovsk are beautiful: the valley of the Tobol river, lakes, pine woods and birch forests. On the basis of natural mineral water springs were established: Svetly (“Light”) sanatorium (in the city), Berezovaya Roscha (“Birch Grove”) and Sosnovy Bor (“Pine Wood”) sanatoriums (three kilometers from the city).

On the territory of the city there is a unique birch grove named “Decembrists Grove”, a memorial Park.
