Atmospheric Air

The level of air pollution in Tyumen Region is monitored at the weather stations of Rosgidromet (Russian meteorological service) in the cities of Tyumen and Tobolsk.

In the first half of 2020, 0.12% of samples taken exceeded the limit concentrations of the following pollutants:

- nitrogen dioxide and nitrogen oxide found at the intersection of Maurice Thorez Street and Respubliki Street;

- phenol found at Lugovaya Street, at Belinskogo Street, at the intersection of Irbitskaya and Kombinatskaya Streets;

- nitrogen dioxide found at Kotovskogo Street.

In the first half of 2020, no excess of the cumulative effect of contaminants (sulfur dioxide + nitrogen dioxide + carbon monoxide + phenol) in the atmospheric air was recorded.

There were recorded 9 cases of adverse weather conditions (AWC) (in the first half of 2019, 15 cases were registered). As in the first half of 2019, no cases of high level of air pollution were registered during periods of adverse weather conditions.

The exposure dose of gamma radiation in the area of Tyumen did not exceed the natural background level.

In the first half of 2020, no excess concentrations were registered in Tobolsk as in the same period of 2019.

Surface Waters

In the first half of 2020, the following pollutants exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations:

 The Tura River:

- petroleum products, nitrite nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found within the borders of Pokrovskoye settlement;

- petroleum products, phenol, nitrite nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found within the borders of Salairka settlement, upstream and downstream of the city of Tyumen;

 The Ishim River:

- petroleum products, phenol, iron, copper, manganese, COD, nitrite nitrogen found within the borders of Ilyinskoye settlement;

- petroleum products, ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found within the borders of Abatskoye settlement;

- petroleum products, phenol, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found upstream of Ishim town;

- petroleum products, phenol, nitrite nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found downstream of Ishim town;

 The Tobol River:

- phenol, ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, BOD5, COD and petroleum products found within the borders of Iyevlevo settlement;

- petroleum products, phenol, nitrite nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found within the borders of Korkino settlement;

- petroleum products, phenol, nitrite nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, iron, copper, manganese, COD and BOD5 found upstream and downstream of Yalutorovsk town.

9 cases of high level of manganese pollution were found in the Tura and Tobol rivers (21 cases were registered in the first half of 2019).

An extremely high level of manganese pollution was registered in 9 cases: in the Uk, Vagai, Demyanka, Turtas, Iska, Tura rivers and Lake Andreevskoye (17 cases were registered in the first half of 2019).

High and extremely high levels of river pollution were mainly due to natural factors.

There were no cases of low level of dissolved oxygen in the river water (as in the first half of 2019).

Emergencies with Environmental Consequences

As in the first half of 2019, no natural or anthropogenic emergencies with environmental consequences were registered.
